NEW CALEDONIA - INGOING MAIL FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD, 1870-1944 - SWITZERLAND - RARE UPRATED POSTAL STATIONERY COVER AT 25c RATE TO CONVICT; Fine 2 Nov. 1876 usage of the 10c Red Postal Stationery env. (from a Pastor; his h.s. on flap) uprated with Sitting Helvetia 10c Red + 5c Brown tied by fine 2-ring "AUBERSON-STE. CROIX" cds to a Convict ("Mr Maudheur") in Noumea with v. fine strike and matching "PD" nearby along with part red 2-ring "SUISSE PONTARL/BESANCON" cds, and also having Paris backstamps. Addressed (as per regulations at this date) care of the French Minister of State for the Colonies in Paris. Endorsed as received by addressee on reverse. Very few covers are recorded to New Caledonia Convicts sent by this special Ministry service. Exhibition Quality.
